Thoughts for the day..........

EDIT, 10th August:-  I see that I am on the Blog list Jimmy Moore posts each month. If you have come here via that link I offer you a special welcome. I hope that you will find encouragement here. There is nothing special about my Blog except that I am older, at 73, than most bloggers. It's never too late to learn something new and apply it with wisdom to your own life. Enjoy reading on and please leave a comment. If there is enough interest I will go back and apply labels to my posts to make it easier to find the subjects you are interested in. I began this Blog for my own benefit but this year it has gradually expanded until now I believe there is enough content to interest others.

Yesterdays trial 'run' for a morning walk paid off. I did not go for a walk but I did climb on the cross-trainer. I only did a pathetic 10 minutes but with so many weeks doing nothing I wanted to start slow.

To excite me about moving more there was something special in my email today from XP Media, the web-site for the ministry lead by Patricia King. I am really looking forward to exploring the possibilities of exercises with Laurette Willis of Praise Moves. This is something I've been looking for a very long time, without really looking, if you know what I mean.

A text from Jane this morning suggested we need to check out John's next appointment at the Vascular clinic. The last one was a farce because he was not booked for an ultra-sound on his leg before seeing the specialist so he has to go through it all again but with the ultra-sound appointment in place. We are going to be in the South Island for a good part of September and it looks as though there is an appointment clash. Not only that, we need to be sure they don't make the same mistake again. We decided to go to Mum's to make the call on the land-line rather than the more expensive mobile.

I've had a heap of Mum's clothes spread out waiting to be folded and taken into the Opportunity Shop. Today was the day. I stacked them in a box to deliver while we were out. I had a burst of energy sorting Mum's things earlier in the year but haven't been motivated to do anything for months. I've also had a brainwave about all the stuff I cannot decide what to do with. I will make up an email list of family members and each week make a list and photograph a few items. Then I can send out an email asking for interest with a time limit on decisions. All the things no-one wants can either go to charity or on TradeMe, our equivalent of Craigs List.

Reporting back............

The day went well except for checking John's appointment. We had to leave our number for them to call us. So frustrating.

On the way home we turned off at Kuaotuna and bought icecreams, (sorry Deb), We do this three or four times a year maybe. The fine weather lasted long enough for John to mow our lawn but he said the ground is terribly wet and we have more rain coming.

How did I do?

OK It was after 8.30 pm when I had some scrambled eggs. I don't think it's a good idea to eat so late at night but it was probably better than going crazy and eating all kinds of other things.

Breakfast:- Berry Smoothie

Lunch:- This and that platter of salami, camembert cheese, gherkins, cheese stuffed baby pepper, red bell pepper, rice crackers and cream cheeese. Almonds and dried apricot.

Tea/Dinner:- Scrambled eggs and slice of fax meal bread.

Drinks:- Water x 0

Daily Goal:- 1.5 lt or 5-6 large cups *yes*

10 minutes cross-trainer = 2 km

!0 minutes is not quite long enough. I'm just warming up. Tomorrow will be 15 minutes.
