DAY 53 - 51ST DAY MAINLY WHEAT FREE - NO DAYS NO COFFEE - NO DAYS WALKING

ROSES IN HAGLEY PARK WHERE THERE A COMMEMORATION OF THE EARTHQUAKES WAS HELD TODAY
On February 22nd, 2011 Christchurch experienced two major earthquakes. 185 people lost their lives. There have been 8 quakes between 5.8 and 7.1 on the Richter Scale since September 4th, 2010. The total recorded earthquakes is 10149. Even today there were 4 shakes. I doubt if many people felt these small ones.

How did I do?

I'm tired and want a complete day of nothing. It's not going to happen before next week so I trudge on and am struggling not to lose my grip.

Had nothing to eat until after midday and made that an excuse to have a Muffin and coffee about 3.30pm.

This afternoon I had a hair pamper session which was nice but I really would have been better to have stayed home. I was given a chance to have a hair treatment with 40 minute massage at a hairdressing school for $5. I really enjoyed and appreciated it but sometimes staying home is better than going out. I'm trying to make good use of opportunities we have in the city because it will be a while before we are here again. We went from the hairdressing school to the other side of town to Riccarton Mall where we messed around, ate a meal and went to the movie, Iron Lady.

I was quite disappointed in the movie although I admire Meryl Streep tremendously. The movie was about Margaret Thatcher but I also thought it was more about aging than her years of power as Britain's prime Minister. The scenes were all shot through the reminiscences and flash backs of Thatcher as an aging lady, who had early alzheimer's and was lonely and grieving for her husband. To me it was just plain sad. Margaret Thatcher was Britain's only woman Prime Minister to date and one of the most controversial and strongest politicians of recent times. So much more could have been done with the story. I guess it was all there, thanks largely to the acting but I thought the screenplay did not even come close to doing justice to the woman, Margaret Thatcher.

We are going out for dinner tomorrow but it should be a safe meal.
